Go Ahead, Get Glowing

Doesn’t a beautiful complexion sometimes look like it’s lit from within? Radiance definitely comes with a positive, clear-eyed outlook, which might be a whole lot easier as the days get longer and the prospect of warmer (maybe even more carefree!) afternoons approach. But this sought-after “glow” is also in no small part due to the way light bounces off the skin. The good news? Adjusting your skincare routine to amp up your glow just got easier:
Physical exfoliation is a must. If you’re not quite sure where to start, try physical exfoliation to rejuvenate your skin with a gentle scrub or a soft washcloth for more sensitive complexions. Dull-looking skin is often the result of a build-up of dead cells on the surface, which, in turn, diminishes the bounce of light that sparks a radiant glow. Though your body exfoliates dead cells naturally — skin regenerates around every 28 days or so — regeneration slows down as we age. Giving the exfoliation process a little help by sweeping off those cells can boost the clarity of your complexion (and enhance absorption of treatment products, too).
Try a new type of product. Consider chemical exfoliation with a product containing one of many kinds of acids, from alpha-hydroxy — like glycolic, lactic, or citric acid (try Dr. Loretta Peel Peptide Pads, which contain 10% glycolic acid) — to beta-hydroxy — like salicylic acid (Dr. Loretta Micro Exfoliating Cleanser contains 2% of this skin-clarifying acid).
Experiencing dryness? Reduce the frequency and moisturize. If exfoliating causes dryness, reduce the frequency of your exfoliation routine, and add a little extra moisturizing.
